CCSA Irish Eyes Are Smiling
JULY 4 – 15, 2017
Join veteran CCSA faculty for an adventure tour of the Emerald Isles and explore the beauty and majesty of southern and western Ireland. A guided coach tour of Dublin will include visits to Trinity College/Book of Kells and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Optional visits to sites such as Guinness Storehouse, Temple Bar, Kilmainham Goal, the National Library, Farmleigh House and the National Museum will also be available during your 3-day stay in Dublin. A special treat will be a night of traditional Irish music and dance at the Irish House Party!
Among the sites you will visit while traveling from the east to west coast of Ireland are:
- Powerscourt House & Gardens
- Waterford Crystal
- Rock of Cashel
- Day trip to Killarney National Park, including stops at Stone Circle in Kenmare, Ladies View, Avoca at Molls Gap, Muckross House and Ross Castle
- Day trip to the Ring of Kerry
- Cliffs of Moher and the Burren
- Day trip to Aran Islands
Overnight stays are planned in Dublin (3 nights), Waterford (1 night), Killarney (3 nights), Gort (2 nights) and Dublin (final night). A full Irish breakfast will be included each day.

Dr. Dan Shea
is an Associate Professor of English at Austin Peay State University. A specialist in British Victorian literature, he has taught two courses in CCSA’s London Winter Program and served as director and instructor on three other study abroad programs to England. Dr. Shea spent a semester in Ireland as a student and was very happy to return to Ireland as Director of CCSA’s summer program in Ireland in 2015. He can’t wait to share his favorite places in Ireland with the Irish Eyes Are Smiling Tour participants in 2017. Dr. Mickey Wadia
is a National Alumni Association Distinguished Professor of English at Austin Peay State University where he teaches Shakespeare and Technical Writing. He has taught for CCSA, primarily on the London Winter Program, for almost twenty years and served on the Board of Trustees for six years. Dr. Wadia has served as Program Director and as Assistant Program Director on London Summer Programs and has also taught for CCSA in Australia. He is a special faculty advisor for London-based travel and has also taught Shakespeare in the Stratford/London program in recent years. Group air transportation is available from Nashville, Tennessee to Ireland. Round-trip air transportation from other cities may be considered on a case-by-case basis at an additional cost (if applicable). Ground transportation from/to airports and between program sites is provided. Program participants may also arrange to travel independently to the destination country.
Non-refundable application fee:
- $150 if received on or before Feb 10, 2017;
- $250 for applications received after Feb 10, 2017
- First Payment: $1850 due by March 10, 2017
- Final Payment: remaining balance due by April 17, 2017
- Group airfare from Nashville (optional, additional cost)
- 10 nights' hotel accommodation
- Full lrish breakfast daily
- Leap card for local transport in Dublin
- All activities as detailed in the itinerary; subject to change based on total enrollment
Unless specified the prices do not include meals, drinks with meals, tips, porterage and entrances.
CCSA reserves the right to cancel any of its programs due to war, political unrest, terrorism, natural disaster, low enrollment, unforeseen circumstances, or a travel warning issued by the U.S. State Department.
Participants who withdraw or who are involuntarily removed shall remain obligated to pay the balance determined by the Penalty for Withdraw schedule below. Applicants whose participation is involuntarily canceled by CCSA due to the applicant’s failure to complete required preconditions for participation (such as holding a valid passport, completing visa requirements, or other factors that prohibit participation) shall remain obligated to pay the balance determined by the Penalty for Withdraw schedule below.
An applicant may withdraw from a CCSA program by notifying the CCSA Central Office via email to email@example.com
Penalty for Withdrawal:
- The application fee is non-refundable.
- After First Payment Deadline: 25% of all fees are owed to CCSA
- After Final Payment Deadline: 50% of all fees are owed to CCSA
- 14 Days Prior to Program Start Date: 100% of all fees are owed to CCSA
While the application fee is non-refundable, these items are considered in the calculation of the withdrawal penalty:
- Program Base Price
- Group flight airfare*
- Single room supplement
- Optional excursion fees, if applicable
*The group flight airfare is non-refundable once ticketed.
